Visitors to the REM Systems stand at MACH will be able to see live automation solutions designed to suit almost every application.

On show will be Erowa’s bestselling Robot Compact 80, the Robot Easy 800 and an example of the Erowa LoadMaster range that can be specified for parts up to 4,000kg.

Managing director, Ian Holbeche, comments: “In today’s globally competitive arena manufacturers have to take every opportunity to improve efficiency and productivity, getting the most out of their machine tools and extending operational hours. With over three decades of automation experience, Erowa has developed a range of robots to every budget and just about every size of workpiece.”

With an optimal ratio between a large number of magazine positions and a small footprint, it’s not surprising that the Robot Compact 80 is the company’s bestselling automation solution. The tall and lean design of the robot takes up little space and with a transfer weight capacity of up to 80kg, it can serve one or two machine tools. Able to move up to 11 different Erowa pallet sizes for varying workpieces, the magazine levels can be set up precisely to meet requirements.

The Robot Easy 800 offers an impressively compact design, that is highly configurable and able to transfer parts up to 800kg. This turns any CNC machine tool into an automated manufacturing cell at reasonable cost. Using the Erowa MTS 400 pallet system in the magazine up to 12 stations can be loaded with parts. The transfer arm fitted with a fork gripper has a reach of 2m from the outer edge of the robot, leaving enough space for manual set up of the machine if a rush order is required.

Capable of transferring parts between 500 and 4,000kg the LoadMaster uses an ingenious kinematic 360° swivel function to allow the robot to access machine tool tables and also store workpieces on up to four levels within a compact footprint. Loading and set up stations are an integral part of the cell and are designed to make the adding and removal of components as easy as possible to keep operator fatigue levels low.

Supporting the range of robots will be podiums featuring the Erowa ranges of MTS-CleverClamp and Spindle-UPC-PC210 tooling. The CleverClamp system is a modular and universal workpiece clamping system that is tailored to the production of one-off parts and small series. It is simple to handle and versatile to use. Setting-up times are reduced, machine operating times can be increased, and productivity is enhanced.

Erowa’s UPC-PC210 (Universal Power Chuck) tooling offers workpiece stability with a holding force of 30kN and clamping accuracy with a repeatability of just 2µm. It is an innovative way of combining proven Erowa accuracy with the flexible handling of a palletising system required for the modern production of parts.

Ian Holbeche adds: “We are looking forward to welcoming visitors to our stand to see the Erowa systems in action, and explaining our four-step productivity plan that can improve efficiency and profitability by harnessing the dead time many companies do not use to the full potential.”

REM Systems was established in the early 1980s to service Swiss EDM machines. This activity brought the company into contact with the Swiss tooling and automation company Erowa and it has been its distributor in the UK and Ireland since 1987.

At about the same time, it also became the distributor for another Swiss company, Triag that produces multi-vice systems. Recently it became the distributor for a third Swiss company, FTool that manufactures EDM tooling systems.

REM Systems’ association with these companies, coupled with many years’ experience of machine tools and production engineering, means it is well placed to help customers in their pursuit of Lean manufacturing processes.
